Practicum Overview

Practicum activities in this course are designed to strengthen students’ oral communication competence through structured, guided, and reflective speaking practices. Each practicum module focuses on specific speaking skills that progressively develop fluency, accuracy, confidence, and instructional communication abilities required in academic and teaching contexts.

Target Competencies

1. Speaking Practice & Pronunciation Lab

This practicum focuses on building fundamental speaking skills through intensive pronunciation drills and controlled speaking exercises. Students practice sounds, stress, rhythm, and intonation to achieve clear and comprehensible speech.

Students are able to:

• Produce English sounds accurately and intelligibly
• Apply correct stress and intonation patterns
• Demonstrate improved clarity and speaking confidence

2. Interactive Speaking & Academic Communication

This practicum develops students’ ability to communicate interactively in academic contexts through guided conversations, short presentations, and academic speaking tasks.

Students are able to:

• Participate actively in academic conversations
• Express ideas clearly using appropriate academic language

• Respond appropriately in interactive speaking situations

3. Functional Speaking & Real-Life Communication

This practicum trains students to use spoken English for everyday and functional communication through role-plays and situational speaking tasks.

• Communicate effectively in daily and practical situations
• Use appropriate expressions for social and functional purposes

• Demonstrate fluency in real-life speaking contexts

4. Discussion, Debate, and Critical Speaking

This practicum emphasizes critical speaking skills through structured discussions and debates. Students practice expressing opinions, supporting arguments, and responding to opposing viewpoints.

• Present opinions and arguments logically
• Engage in critical discussions and debates

• Respond spontaneously and critically in spoken interactions

5. Presentation Skills & Instructional Speaking

This practicum prepares students for instructional and academic presentation contexts. Students practice organizing ideas, delivering presentations, and explaining concepts clearly as prospective educators.

• Deliver structured and coherent oral presentations
• Use spoken English effectively for instructional purposes
• Demonstrate confidence and clarity in teaching-oriented speaking tasks

Informasi Keselamatan Praktikum (SHE)

Dalam mata kuliah ini, aspek Safety, Health, and Ethics (SHE) ditekankan sebagai bagian dari etika akademik dan profesional dalam proses pembelajaran dan praktik. Mahasiswa diharapkan menjaga keselamatan diri dan lingkungan belajar melalui perilaku yang bertanggung jawab, disiplin, dan saling menghormati.

Setiap aktivitas praktik, termasuk penggunaan media digital dan rekaman suara, harus dilakukan secara etis, jujur, dan berintegritas, tanpa melanggar privasi, hak cipta, atau norma akademik. Mahasiswa wajib menggunakan fasilitas pembelajaran secara bijak serta menghindari tindakan yang dapat merugikan diri sendiri maupun orang lain.

Sikap profesional, kesadaran etis, dan tanggung jawab personal merupakan bagian penting dari capaian pembelajaran mata kuliah ini.
